Meet Our September 2026 Positive Change Recipients

Each time you shop with us, you have a chance to directly support local nonprofits by rounding up your purchases to the nearest dollar. It may only be a few cents or spare change, but your generosity makes a huge impact. Every dollar donated is passed on to the nonprofit recipient.

Mississippi Market Co-op and River Market Community Co-op are proud to support Positive Change recipients serving the neighborhoods and communities around our stores. Learn more about the local nonprofits we’re supporting this month.

Empowering Immigrant Farms through mentorship, farmland access, and cooperative development.

Kilimo Minnesota is an organic cooperative farm incubator and training hub dedicated to creating opportunity and equity in agriculture. Through a 3–5 year hands-on program, farmers gain experience in organic vegetable production, business management, and community leadership — while learning to navigate a new climate, culture, and food economy.

Founded in 2020, Kilimo Minnesota supports African immigrant farmers through mentorship, farmland access, and cooperative development. What began as an incubator has grown into a movement of more than 50 farmers organized into cooperatives that share resources, knowledge, and markets to build a sustainable local food system. Through education, training, and cooperative leadership development, Kilimo Minnesota is cultivating connection, resilience, and economic opportunity throughout Minnesota.

Funds from the Positive Change program will support the education and cooperative development programs.
